Landing Lights Wetland Planting Breakfast and Tour

  • Landing Lights Wetland 88 Bestic St Banksia, NSW, 2216 Australia (map)

Feel like getting your hands dirty and helping your local biodiversity?

Rockdale Council would like to invite you to come along to breakfast and a native planting session. We will start the morning with a guided tour of the site with Robert Parkinson from the National Trust who supervises the bush regeneration works in the wetland.

Landing Lights Wetland is one of our most environmentally significant natural areas. The site contains some of the last remaining saline wetlands on the Cooks River and includes vegetation identified as threatened under NSW legislation (salt-marsh).

Migratory birds from as far away as Siberia! visit Landing Lights during the warmer months to feed and fatten up before returning to the Northern Hemisphere to breed.

To protect this site, Council undertakes significant weed control and vegetation removal which will continue over the next three years.

Please meet in the Banksia Field car park directly opposite Spring st on West Botany St, Arncliffe.
