City of Perth and BirdLife WA are hosting Great Cocky Count workshop during Parks Week 2016.
This free community workshop will be held at the Citiplace Community Centre on Tuesday 8 March from 6pm-8pm, and is for people interested in registering for the BirdLife WA Great Cocky Count for 2016, which is held 3 April this year.
The Great Cocky Count is a long-term citizen science survey and the biggest single survey for black-cockatoos in Western Australia. Volunteers monitor known roost sites and count black-cockatoos as they come in to their evening roosts. Records submitted from across the southwest provide a snapshot of black-cockatoo populations, and over time this has helped us quantify the changes in black-cockatoo numbers. The workshop explains how to register and what is involved.
People can register for the workshop by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org by 5pm Friday 4th March 2016 (places are limited).
You can register to take place in the Great Cocky Count at http://www.birdlife.org.au/projects/southwest-black-cockatoo-recovery/great-cocky-count-swbc (registrations close 20 March 2016).
