Pop-up nature playspace

  • Family Recovery Garden 253 Cambridge Terrace Christchurch, Canterbury, 8013 New Zealand (map)

Based in the Family Recovery Garden (across the river from Margaret Mahy playground) the pop-up nature playspace here has materials to create and play.

Come and build a hut, create an obstacle course, make a mud pie or add to the natural weaving loom and nest. Bring some paint or markers and paint a stone to be left or taken home.

BBQ available for use with prior booking - get in touch to find out more.

Huge thanks to Odyssey House and Greening the Rubble for sharing this beautiful garden.

Please note this is an unsupervised space - parents/caregivers are responsible for their own children.

Our second pop-up playspace is in Thistledown Reserve, Woolston.

Thistledown Reserve is a hidden gem, cared for by local volunteers (Thistledown Reserve Maintenance Team). A smaller pop-up playspace will be here for Parks Week, with flax stalks for teepee building, logs for hopping and paths for exploring.
