Parks Week 2017
Parks play a vital role in creating liveable cities and thriving communities. They are our most frequented spaces for recreational activities and provide opportunities for tourism, conservation and the social interaction that is vital for a connected and resilient population.
That's why the New Zealand Recreation Association and Parks and Leisure Australia have teamed up to help organise Parks Week 4th - 12th March, 2017. Promoting the many benefits our parks and open spaces provide, Parks Week will see councils and other organisations on both sides of the Tasman running engaging events to raise awareness on the value of parks and open spaces, and to get people out of their living rooms and enjoying the outdoors.
Raising awareness of the benefits of parks requires a joint effort, with communities, parks bodies and government working together to achieve shared outcomes that will benefit people today and in the future.
This site includes a variety of engaging resources for organisations that want to run Parks Week events in New Zealand and Australia, from social media graphics and posters to media release templates and event ideas.
We’ve also set up a page to profile the great events being run, so don’t forget to get in touch to discuss your Parks Week ideas and to let us know what you have planned (contact details below).
