WHAKATANE PARKS WEEK 2018

  • Whakatane Rose Gardens (map)

The Whakatāne District will be book-ending Parks Week with two major events celebrating our open spaces – the Oxfam Trailwalker and Whai Ora Spirited Women adventure race. Parks Week will also see the return of the Magical Parks augmented reality game, this year to Mataatua Reserve.

The Magical Parks app was created in New Zealand and blends a virtual world with an existing park. This year’s game – EverGreen turns recycling and rubbish collection into a fun and exciting game for kids and rewards them for being responsible for their environment. EverGreen encourages kids and families to get out and explore their local parks whilst learning the fundamentals of recycling.
Parks Week activities include:

• EverGreen Magical Parks – augmented reality game at Mataatua Reserve, 10-25 March 2018 at Mataatua Reserve
